MAC Velvet Teddy // First Impressions

Hope you’ve all had a lovely week. I don’t know about you, but I’m so relieved that the weekend is finally here! Just going to apologise for the bad picture quality this week – My boyfriend has been away in London this week & he’s taken the D-SLR with him, so I’ve had to make do with my trusty iPhone!

This week I was so excited to finally get my hands on MACs Velvet Teddy lipstick. I’ve only recently delved into the wide world that is MAC lipsticks, and I wish I hadn’t waited so long. Every shade I have tried so far I have absolutely adored, so I’m hoping that this will be another staple lip shade to add to my collection. So here are my first impressions..

Just for reference my skin tone is NC15 so I have to be quite cautious when buying nude shades as they can sometimes really wash me out, but this is not the case with Velvet Teddy! I’ve attached a swatch below comparing it to my other MAC nude shades for your reference.

I think Velvet Teddy fits really well into my collection as it’s more of a warm toned nude. It is a very matte finish – I think it comes up a little drier than some other MAC matte shades, but this hasn’t put me off. Velvet Teddy is a very versatile shade that can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion. For example, for a day time look I applied the lipstick using my Real Techniques detailer brush and then topped it with Benefits Sugarbomb lip gloss. I find using a brush to apply lipstick can be quite nice sometimes, especially as I have a tendency to be a bit heavy handed with my lipsticks. In the photo below I applied Velvet Teddy straight from the tube and it gives it a much more bold finish.

I think I am going to get a lot of wear out of this lipstick! I have already got a few more MAC shades in mind, I’m totally addicted.
