January Favourites!

I know this is very cliche, but January has absolutely flown by. It’s not been the best of months, with the late arrival of the chilly winter weather. But I have tried tonnes of new products this month, and discovered some products I’ve grown to love over the past four weeks. Before we begin I just want to give a quick mention to my little Zoella Beauty purse – I purchased this last week to keep in my handbag for little odds and ends. I am so pleased with this purchase as it’s the perfect handbag friendly size and I also really like the material it’s made from. It’s the first product from her range I have been genuinely impressed with, at long last!

The first makeup product of this month’s favourites has to be Soap & Glory Solar Powder – I have been reaching for this on a daily basis to warm up my skin. It’s my favourite drugstore bronzer as the combination of the matte brown with the lighter highlight shade makes for a lovely healthy glow. It’s not too intensely pigmented so it’s great for building up the desired level of colour.

Next up is another product I have been using to get the glow in the winter months – The Balm’s Mary Lou-Manizer. A blogger cult product, Mary-Lou certainly doesn’t disappoint. It is a very finely milled and intensely pigmented highlight. It’s not a product that I could wear for work, but I love wearing this on days when I’m having a ‘proper’ makeup day.

Moving onto a Birchbox sample I received this month – Benefit They’re Real Tinted Lash Primer. At first I was a tad sceptical about this product, I’ve found a few of Benefit’s recent launches slightly underwhelming. But this primer really does have a big impact on my lashes. The mink brown colour is really subtle, so I have been wearing the primer alone on my bottom lashes for a touch of definition. I apply the primer underneath my usual mascara on my upper lashes, which gives me added length and volume. I will definitely be purchasing a full sized version when I’ve finished up this sample.

The NARS Creamy Radiant Concealer is a product I was very on the fence about when I first tried it. I found it to have amazing coverage, but it was too drying for my skin. But the more I’ve used it, the better it’s become. I’ve found by applying this with a beauty blender it sits much better on my skin whilst still giving me great coverage.

For Christmas I was lucky enough to receive a Soap & Glory give set which was filled with miniature products with the Smoothie Star scent. The Smoothie Star Body Buttercream became an instant favourite as the scent is to die for, and on top of that it leaves my skin feeling divine. The Smoothie Star scent is super sweet, it reminds me of maple syrup and I have fallen in love with all the products in this range.

In the last month the Nyx Butter Gloss in Tiramisu has definitely been my most reached for lip product, which makes a refreshing change to MAC lipsticks! I received this in my beauty care package from Valentina back in December and it’s totally converted me to lipgloss. Tiramisu is a gorgeous pinky nude shade. I love the sweet, almost cake like scent of this lip gloss. The formula is non sticky and leaves a lovely wash of colour on the lips.

If you read my recent Drugstore Discovery post (click here for full post) you will know all about my new found love for the Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation. It gives medium coverage, whilst matching my skin tone perfectly and maintaining a healthy glowing complexion.

I’m going to finish off which my favourite application tools of this month, as I’ve found two stand out products from the past month which I am completely obsessed with. Another lovely Christmas present I received was my first Beauty Blender. I had always been curious as to what made this little sponge so much better than the rest. I can assure you though, this sponge really is worth all the hype surrounding it. It’s almost a more light and foamy sponge than others I’ve previously tried and it has made a world of difference to the way I apply my makeup.

My final favourite is the Morphe M405 Contour Blush Brush. This is probably my most used makeup brush at the moment. It’s an ideal shape for contouring out your cheek bones and I also like to use this brush to apply my bronzer. The brush is extremely soft, which allows you to really blend out your contour. I’ve been very impressed with this brush so I’m definitely going to invest in some more Morphe brushes.

This is probably the longest and chattiest favourites post I’ve written so I congratulate you if you made it to the end of this post! Be sure to let me know what products have been your favourites over the past month?
