I’ve recently given my makeup routine a bit of a shake up, I’ve ditched my more full coverage matte bases in favour of something lighter. I thought I would run through my current base picks, just incase you are looking for something new for the summer months.
Rimmel BB Cream – An affordable BB cream which provides a very natural level of coverage. I like wearing this on an every day basis as it perfects the skin, without being heavy. It makes my skin look very healthy and it’s lasting power is good considering it’s drugstore price tag.
bareMinerals Complexion Rescue – This tinted hydrating gel cream caused a storm last summer, and I’m really enjoying using it again. It’s very different to any other base product I have tried, with it’s almost mousse like texture and great skincare benefits. This feels very luxurious on the skin, and layers up well if you want to increase the coverage (which is light/medium).
Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation – This is probably my all time favourite drugstore foundation. It has light to medium coverage, but thanks to it’s light perfecting properties it gives a super radiant appearance to the skin.
Bourjois City Radiance Foundation – The new guy on the block – Bourjois City Radiance has fast become a very popular drugstore base and with good reason. It has a slightly thicker consistency than the Rimmel foundation, but with a similar effect. It contains radiance boosting pigments and SPF 30, you can read my full review of this foundation here.
MAC Studio Sculpt Foundation – This is my favourite more high coverage base for Spring/Summer. Studio Sculpt has the coverage of MAC’s Studio fix, but without it’s drying matte finish – it is much more radiant and glowy. The gel texture blends well into the skin whilst giving high coverage, but still letting your natural glow shine through.
At the moment I have been using the Rimmel BB cream on an every day basis, especially for days when I am just going to work. But if I’m having a bad skin day, or I want my base to look more flawless I have been using MAC Studio Sculpt.

I’m still looking for a good summer base and that Bare Minerals one looks like it could compete with the It Cosmetics CC+ cream. Thoughts?

Unfortunately we don’t have It Cosmetics here in the UK, so it’s hard for me to say! It’s definitely the best light base I’ve tried xo
