REVIEW WEEK – LUSH Ultrabland Cleanser

I had to end REVIEW WEEK with another product from LUSH which has become holy grail for me – LUSH Ultrabland Cleanser. Being one of LUSH’s most iconic products, I thought it would be fitting to share my thoughts with all of you.

LUSH say “Ultrabland made with almond oil, rose water, beeswax and honey, this cleanser removes all traces of dirt and makeup, without stripping away your skin’s natural defences.”

Ultrabland has a balm like texture which is quite thick, so feels extremely cleansing on the skin. Because of it’s thickness I like to use this when I am in the bath or shower. It works well to cleanse bare skin, or as a makeup remover. I apply the cleanser to my whole face, using circular motions before removing the cleanser with a warm face cloth or flannel. I find this method much easier than using cotton pads.

Ultrabland is packed with beeswax, which is one of the most gentle ingredients around for removing the oils and waxes in makeup added to help makeup last on our skin. It also contains honey which is a natural antiseptic, so this cleanser is great for spot prone skin. LUSH recommends for those with problem skin to use this product daily for a month to bring skin back into balance. I find the number of natural ingredients in this cleanser really appealing, as it means I’m not adding any unnecessary chemicals to my skin.

This product contains natural oils such as almond oil, which bring added balance to the skin. In the past I have avoided cleansers which contain oil, believing it would make my combination skin worse but actually I find this cleanser has the right properties to be extremely balancing. It doesn’t strip too much away from my skin, leaving it dry or sensitive, but it’s also not too moisturising either.

I think LUSH skincare bridge the gap between drugstore products and highend, they give high quality results whilst still being fairly affordable. A small pot of Ultrabland retails for £7.95 which I think is really reasonable. Another added bonus is that LUSH offer a scheme where if you return five empty black LUSH pots, you can trade them in return for a LUSH fresh face mask. Not only are you getting a face mask, but you’re helping the environment by recycling your empty pots too.

This marks the final post in my REVIEW WEEK series, I hope you have enjoyed it!

  1. I use 9 to 5, it’s a lot more creamy and therefore easier to remove with good cotton pads. It’s so calming and my skin feels super clean and soft after! It’s also great at removing make up.

  2. I really like the sound of this cleanser especially for those months when my skin just isn’t being kind to me. I am currently using the Body Shop Camomile Cleanser which is really good but I do fancy a change plus its an excuse to go spend some money in Lush 😉 x
