On a recent trip back to Devon I decided to have a bit of a root through my makeup collection. I found quite a few products I had totally forgot I even owned, or just hadn’t used in such a long time. I am a firm believer that it’s great to switch up the products in your everyday makeup, every once in a while so I thought it was about time I took my own advice.
I was heading out for the evening for cocktails, and thought it would be the perfect excuse to put on a full face of makeup using a selection of my favourites from the past.
MAC Studio Fix Fluid was one of the first high-end foundations I owned. This particular bottle is definitely on it’s last legs, but I couldn’t resist giving it another try. It gives such good coverage without looking too heavy on my skin, especially now I’m leaning more towards a combination skin type. I blended this in using my Real Techniques Complexion Sponge which I can’t go a day without using at the moment.
Back in the day I had a real love for Bourjois, but recently I just don’t reach for their products as much. For this look I used the Bourjois Radiance Reveal Concealer which has a gorgeous creamy formula, it’s not particularly high coverage but I love the way it looks on my skin. I also used the Bourjois Healthy Balance Powder and I think this will be staying in my makeup bag, as I completely forgot how great this powder is. It looks very naturally matte.
Remember the days when every fair skinned gal contoured with MAC’s Harmony blush? I certainly do, circa 2015! Harmony is such a wearable shade, that’s not too harsh or muddy as a contour. This again is another product that I will keep in my makeup bag for the foreseeable future.
Another cult product that’s got a little lost in my makeup collection is the Anastacia Beverley Hills Dip Brow Pomade, as I’ve been very loyal to Benefit brow products recently. Dip Brow works well for sculpting out brows, and is very long-lasting. I always apply a bit of Glossier Boy Brow to my brows even when using a pomade as I love the texture it gives my brows.
Finally, for my lips I have really been enjoying liquid lipsticks at the moment. I can’t even remember the last time I wore a red lip, so this time I went for Limecrime’s Velvetine in Suedeberry. This was the first liquid lipstick I owned and it will always have a special place in my heart. The Velvetines have a very thin formula which is comfortable enough for all day wear.
I used my go-to eye products and highlight which is why I haven’t covered them in any detail in this post. I really loved how this look came together in the end, and it’s made me want to try find some more forgotten favourites in my collection!
