Beauty on a Budget – Part 1.

In September I am going to University and will be started a 2 year course. I’ve been a student before so I know the struggles of a student budget, and that’s why I’ve decided to start writing this series – Beauty on a Budget. There are many drugstore brands who have very affordable prices that I’m yet to fully explore. So I’ve decided every so often I’m going to make it my business to have a little budget friendly haul and give the verdict on said products here on my blog.

For part 1 of this series I decided I wanted to mainly focus on Natural Collection. Natural Collection are a Boots own brand that have been around for YEARS. I remember purchasing their products when I was first trying makeup. All of the products they have to offer are priced at just £1.99 – including things like Foundation which is amazing.

Natural Collection have recently launched their own cream stick highlights. I purchased their Highlight Stick in the shade Rose Glow. Rose Glow is a lovely rosy champagne shade with a light shimmer running throughout. It’s very similar to the Soap & Glory stick highlight, and costs just 1/4 of the price. The pigmentation is very good and it blends out to leave a natural looking glow to the skin.

Powders are something which I am quite fussy about usually, as I have dry skin I struggle to find powders that aren’t overly matte. The Natural Collection Pressed Powder in Neutral is surprisingly good despite it’s low price tag. It sets my makeup in place well. The only issue I have with this is that it seems to settle into my fine lines on my forehead slightly.

When it comes to blushes, I’m more of a high end kind of girl. But the Natural Collection Blushed Cheeks in Sweet Cheeks has won me over. Sweet Cheeks is a warm rosy pink which looks gorgeous with a more bronzed makeup look. I had heard the pigmentation wasn’t the best with these blushes, but I have to disagree as I’ve found the formula to be very pigmented and long-wearing. I think these blushes are fantastic value for money.

The final item I picked up from Natural Collection is their Moisture Shine Lipstick in the shade Biscuit. YouTube Just Jodes has raved about this shade and the creamy formula of the lipstick so I had to test it out. Biscuit is a mid-tone 90s nude, I’m yet to wear this properly but I’ll be sure to write a full review in future.

Finally, the last item to feature in this instalment of Beauty on a Budget is the Boots Botanics Radiance Balm (RRP £5.99). I purchased this whilst it was on special offer for just £2.99. When a product is described as being brightening and radiance boosting, how could I resist? This radiance balm feels very nourishing on the skin, it’s peachy tone counteracts tired looking skin and leaves you with a brighter complexion.

So far in my quest for budget beauty products I think I have been quite successful. I was pleasantly surprised by most of the products I have included in this post.
